Default Traction Control

Hey guys...just a quick question about traction control on my '04 GT. Was the traction control optional on these? The reason I ask, I just upgraded from a '00, and I noticed there is no traction off button like my '00. In my Dad's '03 the switch is between the fog lamps and the defrost, but mine just has what looks like a blank button, but doesn't push in.

Does this mean that my car doesn't have traction control, or just that I can't turn it off? And either way, why?

Thanks for the help.

Brad

never seen a gt without it, try burning some rubber...if it spins without a green tire spin light flashing on the dash, then u dont have it. if it spins kinda jerky or doesnt want to spin at all and the green traction light flashes on the dash, then u have it and cant turn it off.

ABS (and t/c) were a $730 option on the '04 models--if you don't have the t/c switch you do not have ABS or t/c--many, including myself, would consider this a plus.,,

I guess the traction control isn't a big deal (it would be a plus for me....I live in Ohio...) but is that really true about the brakes? Are you saying my 2004 doesn't have anti-lock brakes? This is going to require some investigation....

Thanks,
Brad

This is from the Red Book (ABS as a $730 option):

This is from a scan of a 2004 Mustang brochure:

There is no option listing for traction control, so I assume it came with the ABS package; also none of the "group" packages list ABS as a component of the package.

Open the hood and look down just behind the radiator, on the passenger's side, to the right of the air box--that's where the ABS actuator is mounted, if it's not there you do not have ABS. Here's what is looks like...

Cliff, thanks for all of the work, I appreciate it. I will have to wait until tomorrow to get home and have a look at it. I had no idea ABS was an option...that's kind of shocking to me...

I'll let you know what I find.

Thanks again,
Brad
