Transmission making grinding noise
Whenever I try to put my car in Reverse (manual), the transmission makes grinding noise and wont go in reverse. I have to release the cluth and press it again to make it happen, But sometimes it takes like 2 tries. It only happens whenever I try to put it in R while rest of the gears work like charm. Sometimes it works just fine but other times its a hassle. Is this a bad sign ?
I recently changed the transmission fluid with Mobile Synthetic and tranny fluid is still A OK. Is the clutch going bad ?
Oh BTW I do have Steeda Tri Ax Shifter, could this be the cause ?

Shifter isn't the issue, the TR3650 just isn't the best tranny out there, especially when cold. Plus the reverse gear is cut differently than the other gears. If you hold the clutch down and run through all of the gears a couple of times after starting the car, it helps to get the fluid moving through the transmission and you'll be able to hit all of your gears easier. I also noticed a difference when I switched to better tranny fluid.
Worst case scenario your synchros are shot but that's probably not the case.

My mistake, the Tremec 45 isn't quite as strong as the 3650 but does the same thing as far as I know. If reverse gear is the only thing giving you trouble then I'd say your tranny and clutch are fine. The real weak point of our drivetrain is the rear differential.

The T-45 is notorious for that little grind when puting it into reverse. I believe that Ford even mentioned it in one of their service bulletins. It shouldn't happen all the time, though. I get a slight grind here and there, but haven't seen any problem with my tranny. If it's every time then you have a problem, but the occasional difficulty putting it into reverse or hearing a brief grind(nothing loud) is fairly normal.

i have the same prob with grinding but no prob getting it in gear, id say 50% of the time it grinds when i put it in reverse, ill try shifting in some other gears b4 i put it in reverse like previously mentioned and see if that helps.
