Default Blown engine! what engine next???

Hey guys, well i bought a used 2003 GT with 40k miles on it, and 3 weeks later the engine blew. No fun, but what are you going to do. So im looking to drop a new engine in it. Is there any other engines i should be aware about that I could drop in it other then the stock 4.6 2v? maybe something I could get a little more HP from since I need a new engine anyways?

You could get a 4v or drop a pushrod engine in it, but these days you can get 700hp+ out of a 2v for probably as much as it would cost to do the other two, assuming you have to buy the engine. I would get get a shortblock with forged internals, or if you're getting a longblock get forged internals and a set of TFS heads, maybe a set of cams leaning toward what you wanna do with it. Depends on how much power you want and how much cash you have to blow.

+1 to built 2v. It'd be pretty badass if you did twin turbos while you're at it.

Yeah, my first stop would be the speed shop for a forged 2v and I would beg/steal/borrow to also throw a blower on there while it was out and being built. If only I were so lucky to have engine go...as long as it was in a ideal location/time.

why wait for it to go? if you want a new one why not just pull yours out and sell it so atleast you can get some cash to make up the difference for what you want to do?

i would search for a lincoln mark 8 4V on ebay. Can get thoes for just a little more then stock 2v and just add a fuel inject cobra/mach 1 intake you be set. If i remember the mark 8's 4v came with alum block. dont forget to re-set the cpu with a tuner, can use the stocker.

If mine goes I've been thinking about a '05-09 3v swap. You get a conversion kit from Logan Motorsport which allows you to use your 2v headers, wiring harness, computer, etc.

If you're interested, I have the old engine out of mine, a 2000 4.6 2v. Most everything is there except the heads and valve covers, and it runs fine. You could build that up pretty cheap if price is a concern.
