Default Check Engine Light ( Emissions)

Well when i first bought the car the check engine light was on. I ran the code and it came back as EVAP sensor failure. So I didn't pay too much mind to it, in fact after driving the car for about 40 miles the light shut off. Now that the motor is back up in running condition the darn light came back on. I went to Ford and priced a new sensor and for giggles a new coal canister. I nearly had a heart attack in the parts department. So I've been curious to if anyone else has experience this problem and may have gone the route that I'm planning on going, that is if it works. The coal canister and EVAP sensor on a V6 is in the same spot as a GT. Is there any difference in functionality between the V6 and the GT. If I go to a local yard and get both the canister and sensor and hook it up to my car will the light finally go out? The light just taunts me, and i know that its not doing anything to the motor. You only use the canister upon start up. I just need some input to whether this will work or not. Thanks again

Theres an easier and cheaper way to fix it, pull the CEL light bulb out lol. Getting the stuff from a salvage yard should work fine though.
