Default driveline vibration

ive gotta driveline vibration above 70 that gets worse with speed. whats funny about it is that it gets worse when u let off of the gas. i had this problem with the old gears also and thats why i replaced them. everything in the diff looks good, im thinking out of balance driveshaft. this vibration is also audible. also replaced the u-joints just to make sure everything is ok. the spider gears looked great and the tration lock was rebuilt when i installed the 4.10's. also didnt see any bent axles. im thinking driveshaft has anyone else experienced anything like this???

I have the exact same problem, just had my drive shaft balanced and new U joints installed it's still there, been through 3 sets of wheels didn't help, 3 sets of gear, complete rear end rebuild, new transmission extension housing and it's still there. It seems a lot of people have this issue, I hope someone will post a solution.

Wow...So, my 96 isn't the only one? And no one seems to know what the cause is? SOB...I've got a vibration that's almost identical to what you guys are describing, only at and above highway speeds, and mine starts to become unbearable after about 85. I've had the driveshaft u-joints replaced, rear end checked, 2 sets of wheels and tires (both balanced multiple times). Now, I feel it more since installing MM XD rear LCAs, which is to be expected, but this vibration obviously isn't normal. I was getting ready to start looking into replacing the whole rear end, but smythge has already had a full rebuild done on his and it didn't help...

What could this be? What's left? Wheel bearings don't make sense, not the right type of vibration. Something with the brakes? Maybe the axles? Smythge, when you had the rear rebuilt, did that include replacing, servicing, or checking the axles?

Okay, so this problem has been brought up many times. You need to tighten your driveshaft. I'm serious. This is the problem. If you have already tightened it, double check.

I've had my drive shaft out several times always re-torque to 80 ft lbs

I changed out all my wheels bearings, I've had 2 sets of axles put in it. I took my car to the track today and it is a constant vibration above 70mph, doesn't get any worse, but doesn't go away until I drop below 70mph. I have an automatic, and am having some slipping and late shifting problems with it and begining to think that might be the cause of my problems. Any other ideas???

Might be the tailshaft bushing in the transmission. My friend had the same problem with a vibration above i think it was 60mph or so and it turned out to be the tailshaft bushing in the trans. Changed it and the car is smooth as butter now.

Worn bushings in the control arms? Bad shocks?
