Default Handheld programmer

Looking for a hand held programmer not sure which model yet, for a 98 gt. do these devices typically allow you to reset / monitor sensors? turn O2 sensors on/off, etc.

Need t buy and install cats on my car to deal with the inspection and i don't see MIL eliminators so i assume the O2 sensors are turned off or something.

Also i did a little searching as far as Catted mid-pipes, where do you recommend buying them and which brand.

i can't find anything used...

Thanks in advance!

The handhels tuners can be set to run the car with or without cats, and it's real easy to go back and forth. As far as catted mid pipes, I think they're pretty expensive. If you have to run cats, I would do what I did: I bought a BBK O/R h-pipe and welded in high flow cats myself. I think the cats were $65 new for two, the h-pipe was $120, and getting them welded in at an exhaust shop should be pretty cheap ($50-$75 I assume). I welded mine in by myself and saved some money. As fas as what brand isn't as important as what kind of mid pipe (h-pipe, x-pipe, or prochamber). Look on YouTube and see which sound you like the best.

i already have an O/R h-pipe, bot sure of brand, and i have a mig welder. i am confident i could weld in the cats. i just didn't know if that would be adequate to make the O2 sensors nice and happy (i.e. no engine light). thanks for the info. the catted mids are 350$ and up as far as i can tell.

where did you get the cats? i have seen them cheap on the web.

Thanks.

Before you buy check with the tuner manufacturer to make sure their unit will disable the rear O2 sensors, I have seen it reported that some have removed this capability from their latest models/firmware...

I can't believe you can't find any used ones. Where did you look? I bet there's more than a few floating around here. You guys have Pick-and-Pull out there?

I assume by pick-and-pull, you are talking about a junk yard? i am pretty sure that they are not allowed to sell used mid-pipes (i.e. cats). looking for a set through forums, etc.

thanks.

Yeah depending on which state you live in you can't buy them used but that doesn't stop people from selling them. I know out here in Cali they have schit fits about stuff like that. That's why I still have my 04 tagged in NY, and I'm not spending $2500 on a factory one.
