Default Fuel consumption

My 02' GT has started to gulp gas at a faster than normal rate. Anyone have any suggestions on reasons why? They would be greatly appreciated.

Car might need a tune up. New plugs, fuel filter,02 sensors,Maf needs cleaned, Your wearing steel toed shoes, are you doing more city driving lately, dirty air filter, cheap gas
the list can go on and on

How many miles on it? O2 sensors are the first thing that come to my mind, as they age their output drops which makes the PCM think the mix is lean--it compensates by adding fuel via the fuel trims...
