Default Exaust leaking.

Hey guys (and girls). I just bought a 2002 GT a week ago and I can hear a cliking sound coming from my passenger side exaust manifold. I took it to a local shop that I trust here in Denver and they said that the exaust is leaking where the manifold bolts to the block. Unfortunately they cannot fix it because it is so crammed in there and access to the manifold is nearly impossible. Have any of you experienced this sort of problem and if so, how did you fix it?

Thanks in advance.

If you trust that shop and they say that cant fix a exhaust gasket then you need to reevaluate your trust and where you put it sometimes. You will have to loosen the motor mounts and lift the engine about six inches on both sides so that you can get to the header bolts. The job isnt that hard, just time consuming. You may also want to find a new shop.

Is it the stock headers? Reason I ask – If you are gonna pay a shop to go through the trouble of farting around with your stock headers (and possibly pulling your engine up a tad for access), you might as well buy some good aftermarket headers and just have them installed.

Good luck and Semper Fi!

Yeah, I'm pretty sure that the entire car is still stock. I'm debating on whether or not to leave it stock for a while seeing as the thing only has 19,000 miles on it. If I do anything with it, it will only be a cat back to give it some more grunt but personally I think it sounds great right now.

Oooraaah.
