Default lokar dipstick install

okay... I had a bad head gasket and have got the heads back on and am putting everything back on. I pretty much only have the dipstick left...

HOW the HECK do you force it in the little dipstick hole in the block/pan? I lubed it, tried freezing it and I cannot push hard enough with my hands... and it is hard to get in there to pry on it with anything.. just wondering what you guys have done.

haha I hit the top of the dipstick to try and pop it in but since it is flexible it just bends... it is seriously holding me up putting my car back together and I MISS the manual!

Put a pair of vise grips on it (4" or 6" curved jaw) just above the ridge at the bottom end--then while supporting the pliers tap on the jaws with a small ball peen, just near the tube.

The motor is in the car... I will try the vice grips though.. might work.. didnt really think of that.

Due to the motor being in the car there is really limited room... I even thought about going with no dipstick and plugging the hole.

I have a lokar braided flex dipstick, purchased it after a nightmare with stock tube and long tube headers. Anyway mine popped right in with virtually no force at all. I wold double check and make sure the O-Ring from the stock tube didnt stick in the block.

Hmm thank you for your input.. going to give it a go this weekend again... I am going to take a set of calipers and measure the stock one and the new one...

What did you use to lube it up? I tried WD40, no luck.

That is a good idea...never know right?

For lube, maybe just some motor oil????
