No Idle when cold 2000 GT
swarthy, you CANNOT clean the IAC valve. it is not to be cleaned or repaired by an average joe.
you can go to autozone and just get a sheet of gasket maker and cut your own gasket out too. this is what i used when i tried the IAC rev mod. my car hated it so i cut the hole back out to stock size.
let me know when you get that IAC. take off the old one first though. that way if you break the gasket you can order a new gasket when you order your valve. that gasket is paper thin and hard, mine broke as soon as i touched it. went to ford with my friends car, ordered the part, and it was in a 10 the next morning. 5 bucks for the gasket.
Well... I'm not just the average joe then. Mine has been working for the last 2 years. I'm in college right now and the 50 dollar part was more then i wanted to spend... I already had carb cleaner and it worked just fine.
MU7: i read about that "mod" awhile back but never herd of any results from it. i was extremly doubtful of the idea of restricting the idle air so i didnt try it. glad to hear it was bogus. cut your own gasket, gasket from ford. its all the same.
i bought a new IAC from bluestreak and the gasket came with it. I also bought a cleaner for the MAF and washed it 10 minutes ago. I'll have to wait till tomorrow morning to see if it worked for the MAF. If it's the same **** i'll install the IAC. Because i can't be refund for the IAC if it has been tried.
Yeah i made one of those idle air restrictive plates... I was just a plate with a 0.5" hole. I made the car deeper at idle, it kinda sounded like a carbonated V8 then. I didn't really like it so i took it off after like a week.
