Power top
Hi Guys,
The roof motor went on my brother when he had the car so he got another motor ( Ebay Used ) and had it installed. It worked a couple of times but now it does not go up. Goes down fine. Do these things need to be bled or is this motor shot as well?
Also, If I need to change it is there a write up on it for the DIY'ers?

Check the fluid level in it. They just take Mercon ATF, not sure how much though. There's a little black rubber plug on the end of the motor facing the driver's side I think, just pop that out and fill it from there. I had to do mine about a year ago as it had a slow leak, just seepage really, from one of the fittings on one of the hydraulic cylinders. I just filled it up to pretty much the top as best as I could (get a funnel with a really small opening that will fit into the hole, I didn't have one and my improvisation almost made it a messy job) and it has worked as good as new ever since.

You're gonna need the roof up to get to get access to the motor. It's right behind the backseat where the top folds up when it's down, beneath the black liner. Once you get the liner unhooked enough to lift it out of the way and gain access to the motor, just pull up on the motor to unhook it from it's base (it's hooked to the base by little rubber plugs that snap in), then hold the side with the fill plug up, facing you and pull the plug out and.... I'm sure you've got it from there. A second set of hands would be helpful, but not necessary, to hold the motor while you pour in fluid (or vice versa). After you get it all back together you may have to run the top up and down a couple times to get the fluid circulated and any air bubbles worked out of the lines, after that you should be good to go.
