Default 4.6 AT Questions

Ok, the car: 1996 GT with an AT

Next me: Have to keep the AT due to a knee injury.

That said, as we know the 96 has one of the weakest 2V motors out there.
Questions:

1. How much can the AT take? Is there a later AT that can handle more? Or just have mine built up?

2. I definitely want more HP, but gotta do in steps cause the car is my daily driver. PI heads look like a good upgrade. But if I want to use a supercharger later down the road, I'll most likely need to tear into the motor to lower the CR. What would be required to just drop in a later 2V with the PIs? Is it just plug and play? Need the later harness? Or will the 96 one work?

3. New to Mustangs (Recently left GM when they became Gov't Motors...won't go back!), so this will show some ignorance with Mustangs. Was there a 4V motor backed by an AT?

Thanks for any help.

The 03-04 Mach 1 was available with an auto. I have heard people around here say that the auto in our cars is good to 700hp, but don't quote me on that.

the 70 in 4r70w is saposed to represent how much power it can hold(700). but good luck making it that far lol. no way it'd hanlde 700 imo. my buddy had a pi engine with a procharger and 9psi of boost and ended up blowing the bottom end, but he swapped in a non pi bottom end so it had a little higher compression, and that motor held together great until he got greedy with boost lol. so i would imagine you could just put the pi h/c/i on your engine then throw a supercharger at it when you're ready.

The 4R70W can take a beating, especially if you keep it cool. Mach 1's use it and I know that the Lincoln Mark VIII used it too.
