Default Overheating

my car was over heating so i took the thermostat out and now it runs cool, very cool but only when in motion, if I sit in city traffic it still gets hot and eventually over heats. Coolant level is fine. I under stand why it runs cold when in motion, (wind hits fins) but why is still getting hot when at idle?

Have not checked the fan yet nor inspected the water pump. Going out the door to do that now.

water pump, fan not running right, radiator being over 10years old... might be time for a cooling system overhaul.

pretty sure if your water pump was out your car would still overheat while driving, infact it would be even worse?

sounds like your fan isnt kicking on honestly. that seems to be the most logical reason for why its fine while moving, but not at idle...

start your car and let it run for a few minutes and see if the fan ever kicks on (make sure your checking back and forth between the fan and the temp guage so you dont overheat)

yes... it would overheat like a mothervckvker when ran..... Car probably is overheating from the heat the flaming purple heart tatoo'd on your chest is giving off.... yeah that pic was brought up in OT the other day.

As stated probably the fan.

it may be your coolant temperature sensors. Since there are two on the npi's one controls the fan relay and one controls the gauge. If you're gauge is working fine try switch the sensors and see if the gauge works the same. on both sensors while idling, if not then you have a sensor issue.

oh i should add, if the coolant has been changed recetnly, the system needs burped, if not, it will overheat, but doesn't seem like the case in this scenario as it would most likeley overheat during driving.
