Check american muscle see if the 01 had the same bolt pattern as 04 I think they r but can't remember. your flywheel is 10.5 and the clutch from 04 is 11 inch so if it does bolt up you still need a new flywheel.

Either your flywheel is 6 or 8 bolt and 10.5" or 11".
What is it?

According to the shop manual the '01 GT uses a 10.5" clutch, the '04 has an 11.0" disc--based on that it will not fit--the easy way out would be to get an 11.0" flywheel (with the proper bolt pattern of course)...

so do you think i could take my 10.5 inch flywheel and bolt it on to the 04 motor? would that damage anything? think it would bolt?

oh and its an f1 racing stage 2 street disc

I don't know for certain, however Ford switched to the 11" clutch when they realised the 10.5" assembly was marginal for the PI engine, just like the change to the 21lb/h injectors.

I would consider it "penny wise and pound foolish" to start getting cheap at this point in your project...

OP, i told you to check AMM for the bolt patterns on the flywheels. i just looked for you, don't worry i did all the time consuming work for you.

the 99-01.5 has an 8 bolt flywheel. the 01.5-04 has a 6 bolt. meaning, you cannot bolt a 10.5" flywheel to your 04 and vice versa.

There are 10.5" 6-bolt flywheels available, Summit has/had one that they shipped to me in error a couple years ago (BTW, they were cool--full refund of $$ and shipping both ways).

That said, I'd get a proper 11" f/w and clutch so as to do things right...

ah, well my bad on that. i do agree with you on wanting the stronger stuff and i'm not trying to argue but: what you said about the 11" change perplexes me because theres a ton of members here running blowers and juice on their 10.5s. i would assume a good aftermarket clutch would make it adequate. i have yet to see one person say that you should upgrade to an 11" assembly for bolton or even supercharger power. was this just so they could keep cheaper clutches in by just upping the dimensions rather than making them stronger?

and my head hurts now. i just looked on AMM cuz i just recalled seeing the flywheels were 11" for 96-98 and 01.5-04. the clutches are listed for 86-01.5 and in 10.5 inches. wtf sense does that make? they are letting people buy 11" flywheels and running 10.5" clutches...right?

on a side note i just got a hellacious craving for krystal's. i'm debating driving an hour down the road to fort hood to get some i want it that bad and i am starving. random thought for the day :-)
