Has anyone tried this? I'm not too huge on the look of those gauges, but I like the idea of it.

I like the idea too, their gauges look very "raw" though, surprised someone like AM hasn't come up with this idea yet

The speedo and tach seem to go for $105, and everything else $50

that looks pretty sick. i wonder if anyone has done this before in a stang and how it turned out. guess a custom dash panel would need to be made in order to house them and make it look good.

Deriving the signals to drive them would be the biggest challenge.

The stock gauges are driven by the cluster micro-controller, using data received over the SCP data bus. I'd start out by tapping the OSS (Output Speed Sensor, it might need to be buffered?) signal for the speedometer, and the tach signal supplied by the PCM.

The fuel and temp gauges could likely be driven by tapping the respective stock sensor's analog output, the battery voltage is easy of course, the oil pressure would require a new sensor as the OEM unit is just a on/off switch activated at 6psi.

so i have no idea what u just said lol. are u saying i would have to by sending units for the oil pressure and water temp? what about voltage, fuel, tach and speedometer?

This is all provided above, however I can list each separately for clarity (these are educated guesses, as there does not seem to be any installation information available for those gauges)...

Speedometer: Tap into the pulsed output signal from the speed sensor on the transmission;

Tachometer: I believe there is a service tachometer signal generated by the PCM that could be used;

Coolant temp: The signal from the stock sensor on the coolant crossover pipe should work;

Fuel gauge: The fuel level sensor provides a 0 to 5V signal that should be able to drive a gauge;

Battery voltage: just connect the gauge to the car's battery;

Oil pressure: Require a new sensor as the stock "sensor" is just a presure actuated switch;

As to the gauges themselves I think they would look like crap in a Mustang, and that the novelty would wear off real fast--but keep in mind I'm an older fella...
