Default Random Decrease in Odometer Reading

I recently had my car in the shop for a few days getting some body work done. So I decided to take photos of the car before the work and note the mileage of the vehicle by taking a picture of the odometer. After the work was completed, I noticed the odometer was showing the mileage of the vehicle to be 2-tenths (0.2) miles less then what it was when I left it at the shop. How could this be so? I have time stamped photos of this to prove this discrepancy which have been attached.

The vehicle's battery was disconnected or power was lost while work was done to the vehicle, because I lost my trip odometer mileage and my radio stations were lost. I am assuming the battery was disconnected while some welding work was performed.

Anyone have any thoughts or ever experienced this oddity?

I don't know, 0.2 miles at a time would be a slow process...but I sure am confused by this.

Well what that says to me is that they drove your car around A LOT and rolled back the odometer, which they can because they have the tool.

They didnt want you to know so they rolled it back.
I would go in there and stir some crap up because that does NOT happen on its own.

This isnt Ferris Bueller's Day off now.

Ive read into this before, and you honestly cant roll back the mileage. It is stored into a few modules and they are a read only.

Yeah, I have read the same thing about changing the mileage and seen that some car's computer place the odometer reading in different places so that it is harder for it to be changed but it is still possible if someone knows what they are doing.

The Ferris Bueller trick of running the vehicle backwards does not work on these cars...tested that theory. The mileage continues to increase. This is a very strange thing and I really would like to understand, because it physically does not make sense.

Maybe it didn't get moved at all and that display is just messed up in that area?
