Default Help please

I posted this in the general forums, but have not received any replies yet.

Just bought my son a 2003 GT for Christmas. We are wanting to do some mods. A person locally has the following throttle body and plenum for sale. the ad advises that it is stock also off a 2003 GT. My concern is that on our GT it has the pony logo on top of the plenum and has a square shape instead of the round one as shown. Can any one confirm that they had two different style plenums for the 2003 Gt or is this an after market one. If it is after market is there any way to identify it.

thanks for the assistancehttp://dallas.craigslist.org/dal/pts/2097926485.html

That's a Trick Flow/Professional Products style casting--I have seen some that are not branded as such out there, don't know if they are rip-offs or rejects from whomever actually casts them.

Trick Flow:

Pro Products:

The Pro Products castings were consistently smoother (finer grain sand using the molds) than the original Trick Flow casts (shown above).

That does look like an OEM TB...

Any possibility that it would be better than the stock plenum

Without it's being branded as either a Trick Flow (the name milled into the top), or a Pro Products (via a well affixed metal name plate), and as it appears a bit rough, I feel it to be over priced.

You can get a new Pro Products plenum on eBay for $100 or so--and you already have a stock TB...

I run the PP plenum and have been very pleased with it--without a tune to take full advantage it will not produce a huge power gain, however you will find a bit more grunt in the mid-range and that the engine pulls right up to the rev-limiter a bit better.

The plenum is the weakest link in the OEM intake (click here for more), with the stock 65mm TB being the next weakest link. A 70mm is all that is needed on an n/a 2V, a lot of people buy 75mm TBs however they do not really offer any additional power.

Here's a shot of my PP plenum and their 70mm TB:

See if you can "negotiate", I'd give $50 for the setup...
