well i was driving home from school went to work to pick up my pay check started the car and the power steering had went out then i drove a little more down the street and then the brakes went out so i had to stop the car with the emergency brake so i decided to put my hazards on and drive the car to my job and park it for the night wich was one block away while i drove 30 feet the car started over heating so i turned it off because the heater was not helping enough to cool it and i pushed it for about 500 yards tired as **** after but i need help does anyone know what it might be

just get a new belt and your fine...when the belt goes the water pump stops, that causes the voer heating, u dont have vacuum for the brakes and the power steering will stop cuz no belt to turn the pump just get a belt and dont drive it until u get a new one on u shud be fine but if u keep driving it u cud do damage!

maybe the pump is seized and thats why you lost the belt in the first place

replace the water pump; to test it, you can use a peice of wood. get a piece long enough and thin enough so that it can make contact to your water pump and you can put your ear up to the other end of it; while running <<<and only for a short while>>> listen the the water pump vibrations through the wood. if it doesnt sound smooth then its bad. i got one with a life time warrenty from autozone for like 40 bucks.

just listen to ur pump or watch it spin if it donesnt make a noise its prolly a thermostat which is very easy it do. but if the pump makes a growling type noise thats the bearing and the pump needs to be replaced...if you dont here any noises it must likely is a thermostat. which u find the housing which will be at the end of one of you 2 coolant houses close to the engine block...drain your coolant from the thermostat...then removing the termostat housing and replace the thermostat. itll prolly take about 30 mins or maybe a little more. if thats what it is let me know and i can give u a little better detail

if a thermostat takes you a half hour to do you shouldnt be doing it lol. It takes like 5 minutes. hahaha Its right on top of the manifold two bolts you pull it out some coolant comes out you put the new one in with a new o ring and bolt it back down and run the car and make sure the coolant level doesnt drop too low.
