Default Oil catch can with or w/o filter???? Why??

I found alot of oil in intercooler elbow when I took my engine out. Obviously I need to get an oil catch can but dont really know which kind and y. I see moroso with a filter on top and others like UPR's without a filter on top. With a supercharged application which is the best style to go with and y? Please educated me on this subject. How is this going to help on performance

make your own, i went and bought the husky catch can at home depot for 13 bucks and misc brass fittings and some fuel evap hose and ran it from the pcv valve to the plenum and works good

I made my own also with an Air Compressor filter (removing the inside filter Piece). Mine is a little overboard with the steel braided line but I hated how regular rubber hosing looked. I believe Steeda has a kit you can buy also

It affects performance because if the oil gets into the intake you will burn the oil. and that is what you do not want to happen. Not really any other benefit

I plan on putting a catch can when my supercharger gets done sooner or later. I would assume this will help prolong the life of the S/C, and probably clean up the emissions a little as well?

I have the steeda one, it looks exactly like the one Bramas posted. For oil to be down in your intercooler you have to have a serious blowby issue.

ive had mine on for a while and i havent seen it with oil inside at all.
only thing ive ever noticed and maybe its just me is that it made the exhaust smell better coming out the back.

i've seen both sides of the valve covers vented to atmosphere through one can/filter, is this a good practice on boosted engines? not really sure i trust that dinky PCV valve...

i had mine set up with a breather filter on the pass side, and i think the guy i took it to tune my car added in an extra check valve just incase, but i cant remember. been awhile since i actually looked at that lol.

Thats how I've got mine setup. Both covers into one can with a filter on it. Nothing to the intake. I started with just filters on the covers, but it quickly soaked them and leaked on the exhaust under boost. The can fixed the leaking on the exhaust, but it also gets condensation in it too, so when you drain it the oil is all milky and I wouldn't reuse it.
