Default we have problems...

First time taking the car to the track today and wasn't happy at all. I have a 97 convertable thats mostly stock with flowmasters dumped, cai, 75mm bbk throttle body and c&l plenum.
First run I spun bad through first
2.7 60 ft
ll.08 1/8th at 65.03
1/4 17.16 at 80.404

I thought this was from the terrible start but figured from the mph that something was wrong.
second run.
2.4 60 ft
1/8th 10.4 at 66.03
1/4 16.44 at 82.23

I've changed the plugs, wires and oil. I need the change the air and fuel filter but still theres no way even with terrible driver error that the car should have ran that slow. It should have been trapping in at least the 90s right? I'm embarrassed to say but I got beat by a 4wd f150.
I should have at least been in the 14s
Any idea on why my car ran so slow or what I can do to help it out?

Sorry to tell you buddy but that's what a stock 97 will do. Maybe high 15s if you get a good hook up. Either way trucks now a days are alot faster so it's not surprising

There was a 98 running full exhaust and a zex 100 shot hitting mid to low 12s. Would those mods really make that huge of a difference?
I was about to do full exhaust but after this I was thinking the motor was running on its last leg or something, I was even considering selling it. Also because its a vert which means I have to have a cage for anything under 13.5

The exhaust isn't doing much for those cars at all, but a 100 shot of nitrous..... lol yeah big time, I wouldn't think low 12s with non-pi more like high 12s but you figure your gt makes about 180rwhp a 100 shot of nitrous is like adding another 50% of your total NA horsepower. Also your 60 foots are real bad but you should get better considering it was your first time out.

I was planning lts, and off road h. If thats not going to do much then I'll start saving for a pi swap or a supercharger. Another thing would be gears. I was told I had 3.73s when I bought the car but I don't think they are if I'm at 2000 rpms in 5th doing 70?
I know those 60s are bad but after my first run frying all of first then bogging second I wanted make sure I didn't do that again. I lowered the tire pressure for the second run and it did a little better but still bogged off the line.

I hear gears really make a difference and tires. Have you thought about a tuner? I think it makes a difference too.

I know gears are supposed to do a lot but I'm trying to determine the gears I have before spending money on gears that I might already have. I haven't gotten a chance to count drive shaft to tire rotation to make sure but judging by my rpms I have stock gearing. I know tuners make a difference but I thought exhaust and gears should come first. Also since my cars a 97 for some reason diablosport doesn't make a tuner for my car.

If this puts things in perspective heres cobra frenzy's dyno on his 97 GT, full bolt ons, long tubes, offroad pipe, etc etc, 192rwhp.

ouch...

non-PI GTs along with the stock 94-95s are just pigs. i ran a 15 hammering the gears. the extra weight of the vert isn't helping either.

on your 14.7 run what was your mph?

Your right the non pi 4.6s are pathetic. I seriously think my 95 svt was faster than this and all it was stock.
