So I haven't touched the car since putting the KB 2.1L on and i'm getting the mod bug again.

Its mid-pipe time, this car doesn't sound as loud as it is fast.
One question on that. I'm fairly sure on the answer to this, but I will definitely need a new dyno tune when I throw the O/R mid-pipe on?

And as for what pipe i'm getting, its gotta be O/R H pipe I cannot stand X-pipes thats not up for discussion. Unless I get really persuaded another direction i'm pretty sure i'll get the MAC O/R H. Any other suggestions? I have MAC catbacks right now which give me the deep rumble I like.

EDIT: Emissions questions removed, NC does not exhaust sniff.

As far as letting the cats sit....

I leave my stocker outside uncovered, and I passed smog just fine. I put it on about 2 weeks before I smogged it, and ran the hell outta it to get them hot, and see if there was any issue.

I had none. Passed smog pretty well, but the numbers were a little high, indicating a rich condition. My only guess is the original owner had a tune on it and never re-installed the stock tune prior to me getting it.

According to this link, my understanding is that they simply check your OBD system for emissions. If I just shut my rear 02 sensors off with my handheld tuner and have no CEL will this be enough to pass inspection? Sounds like it should be.

Yes - In NC, that should be plenty fine for you to pass (I have O/R H and MIL eliminators). They dont do a visual round these parts, and dont do a sniffer test.

Definitely go with the MAC H. I have the same setup and love it. If you like the catback, you'll love it with the H pipe on it.

o/r h is the way to go. I had flows and just switched to stingers and it sounds MEAN! In nj I have the o2's turned off through tuner so no check engine and bring it to a private inspection who doesnt do snif or visual. Although I got pulled over last week and it is very scary to think of a $1000 fine for every cat missing (thats what I was told, $4000? f*ck).

I've read this too before, anyone actually know what the penalty is for no cats?

edit: I did some searching and remembered a thread a while ago talking about this...

not sure what the exact law/penalty is
