Which shocks and struts?
I'm going to replace the shocks and struts on my 1996 GT this week. I won't be lowering it until I get a second car since Detroit roads are so horrible. Can anyone recommend some that are not too expensive but will give me some improvement over the stock ones and be able to accept a lowering of 1"-1.5" in the future? Thanks.

Tokico and KYB seem to be popular, and are pretty cheap. I drive Detroit roads all the time and have no problems whatsoever. I have friends with 2" drops on their stangs that don't have issues with the roads out here either.

thanks for the input guys. I will be definitely getting those eibach springs next year when I get another vehicle for winter and daily driving. @Mrtstang, I live, work and go to school downtown and I catch my frame / exhaust every once in a while without a lowered car. I've also cracked 2 rims on potholes. I'm going to hold off on the lowering for a while. I'll look into the Tokico shocks/struts tomorrow. Hopefully livernois motorsports stocks them.

when i had my 04 dsg gt i used strange engineering adjustable shocks and struts with eibach springs and they were amazing the car hooked great and were adjustable for street/strip/track use and werent too expensive either, i believe they were about $450 hope that helps you make ur decision

Coils, shocks, and struts for $450 or just the shocks and struts?
If this includes all shocks and struts it seems like MRT has a good deal. http://www.mrt-direct.com/41b006.html

Well I got the KYBs because they were the only ones I could get by Saturday. I ended up getting the pro eibach springs too. A guy had them for real cheap on craigslist so I couldn't pass them up. I'll let you know how it works out.
How about steering rack bushings? Mine are falling apart so should I get center holed or offset? aluminum or urethane? MM recommends centered if you have the stock K brace, which I do.

Put the new springs. shocks, and struts on Saturday. It was a pain getting the old coils out. I was surprised at how much thinner the metal was in the Eibach coils compared to the stock ones. I would have figured that the Eibachs would have been a thicker gauge. Maybe they are made from a stronger type of steel.
Anyways it rides a lot better now and I don't get any weird bump steer problems but i do really need to replace my steering rack bushings. They are so worn out that the bolts sit loose in them. Thanks for the advice guys.
