Yup. A cai is a waste of money on a 2v. I have a bbk for sale if you want it. I am going back to stock. There is no gain to be had so I want it to look sleeper. If it did anything at all I would keep it but it doesnt

That's also what I did on my 04 GT.

I had a CAI and took it off, it made the car run rougher and it was noisy, I also noticed it bogs down more with the CAI.

not worth the money I spent on it

i got a JLT CAI in my 04 gt and i honestly didnt a difference in power. it just felt like $230 spent on a cool ornament under the hood. i would keep the stock intake and just do a K&N drop in (if you're just looking for performance). but if you want to show off your car, then the JLT CAI would be the one. i know a friend that custom painted his JLT pvc pype to match the color of his car. looked pretty sick IMO

I picked up the cheapo generic CAI that is offered on American Muscle 3 or 4 years ago on Ebay for like 40 bucks, shipped. I put a new K&N filter on the end and I am very happy with it. Much lighter than the stock plastic tube.

The only noticeable change, a sweet whoosh sound.

What is the air silencer, i was thinking of going with CAI, but now Im just gonna buy a K&N drop in and remove the air silencer if I have one Is it the filter screen that goes between the Mass Air flow sensor and the filter element? Thanks and sorry to threadjack

the silencer is the stupid rubber/plastic cover thing that covers the air filter, it has a reducer cone that pulls air from the fender.

i agree, dont waste all that cash on a CAI, get a good filter, remove the silencer. then spend the rest of the cash you have left over to save and later get some gears and Full length subframes.

edit: and i think it was cliffyk who has a write up analyzing the screen, if i remember right it supported the fact that you want to leave it in. [see link below]

Honestly, I would recommend not getting one in the wheel well, not only will it suck up more water, but its pretty close to factory. I have a K&N and i definatly noticed a difference. Plus if you have done any exhaust work to your car it will make it sound so much better if you put an intake on

I bought the basic one from AM a while back because I was planning on supercharging the car. It's actually really nice, one of the best I have ever put on. I think it was less than $100. In the end...its a pipe with a filter on it. As long as the fitment is quality go for it.
