Default Transmission fluid question.

I have a 96 GT 4.6L, I am replacing the clutch this weekend and wanted to know if I should used the same transmission fluid that i remove, or replace with new and with what, ATF, Gear Oil, Etc. Please keep in mind the trans has 203k miles on it. Thanks for any feedback

ATF, you can download an Owner's Manual from Ford here...

i think new fluid better it will be clean and better quality.....

I would never re-use any sort of fluid...

Use gm mercon. Not synthetic it's bad for the synchros

Where do you get this from? Tremec 3650 workshop manual says to use Ford Mercon or Mobil 1 atf synthetic?

Your '99 has a T-45 transmission, not the 3650...

I used GM syncromesh in my 96 and it shifts smooth as butter.

FWIW/FYI--GM's Synchromesh is a synthetic/dino blend...

It used to. Now it has rebuilt 3650 extreme from American powertrain. The same company that told me that my 5th gear noise at 60 mph was caused by me using synthetic atf. When I asked Richard at American Powertrain a second time he recommended mobil 1 synthetic lol.
