Default wont start - Fuel problem

Hi everyone, need some help here. Registration is due today and car wont start for inspection.

A couple days ago I was driving my 04 mustang and it started running rough, stalled and wouldnt start up. Felt like a fuel pump going out, so today I disconnected the fuel line at the fuel rail, put the line in a cup and had someone crank it for me. No fuel sprayed, but the car started fine (?? ). Ran it for a couple minutes, turned it off and reconnected the fuel line and car wont run. Disconnected again and the car started up again.

So, couple questions. If I disconnected the fuel from the quick disconnect, shouldnt fuel spray ? There is no check valve or something that would prevent it would there? And 2nd, how can the car possibly run with the fuel line disconnected ? Is it just running off fuel already in the rail? Is there a second fuel line I didnt see ??

are you sure it is the fuel line you disconnected? if it was you should have fuel spraying all over. It would not be able to run with out the fuel line connected.

Is the fuel system stock?

Pretty sure it was the fuel line. It was a quick connect on the fuel rail and I could only find one. In any case I put in a new fuel pump and she's back up and running. Now to see if I can pass smog with my off road h pipe. LOL
