Default TOB Install

Pretty positive my throwout bearing is on its way out (hearing a squeaking / shearing sound coming from the transmission). I just rolled over 100K miles and the car is running great, no clutch slippage issues at all. The car is still very close to stock and was my dd for quite some time, I am pretty easy on it most of the time. Since its not my dd anymore, I only drive it about 200 miles a month. All of this being said, I just got a quote from a shop for $685 to replace clutch, TOB, and resurface the flywheel.

I have plenty of other things on my plate to spend $700 on right now. Since I'm not experiencing clutch issues, is it crazy for me to think about only replacing the TOB? This was not a task I was originally thinking about taking on myself, but since the car is no longer my DD and the shop wants about $450 in labor, I have reconsidered. Is the install enough of a PITA to justify the money?

Let me know your thoughts...and I do not want to turn this into a "my clutch is better than yours" thread. Thanks.

Hey man, I was in the same exact position a year ago that you are in now. My clutch is still perfect. I replaced the TOB with a FRPP TOB that I ordered from lethal performance and its been great since. If you are comfortable that your clutch is fine, I don't have any doubt that you just need to replace the TOB.

Thanks, dude...that is exactly what I wanted to hear. A $50 TOB was quickly turning into a Stage 1 clutch, quadrant, firewall adjuster, etc..$$$

Did you do the install yourself? If so, how hard are the bellhousing bolts to get to?
