Default Need Advice

Found a 2004 Mustang GT vert, automatic with 65,000 miles on the clock. everything runs and looks good but it has a salvage title. My question is what is a good price to start at for negotiations? Everything was repaired and looks new you can't tell its been in a wreck. It blue books for 11,000 in fair condition so I'm thinking about starting at 9k. what do you all think?

Personally i'd stay away from something with a salvage title. That's just me.

BTW, i went from a 98 Z28 to my 04 gt. If it's stock be prepared for a big difference over the LS1 lol.

I would go even less than that for a salvage title. You've seen the car in person? Also make sure you check your states requirements for getting a license on a salvage title. I would definitely take it in for an inspection prior to buying.

Issue with a salavage title is that it can look great from the naked eye but somewhere there is an issue.

I would also try to find out why its a salvage. If its been in a front end collision or had frame damage...its best to move on.

Either way, I would definitely low ball. ITs a salvage title and I would almost say that if it blue books for 11k, I would go as low as 6500 or 7k. Just remember that if you ever need to sell it, it will take awhile because of the title.

ya I saw it in person and got it on a lift...straight frame, receipts for professionally done work, it was in a collision but from the crash pics it looks like only the front fenders and hood were replaced. It seriously looks brand new and there are no fender gaps, everything is aligned right.

dude... 9k is near fair for a car without a salvage title, i wouldn't pay a dime over $5,000... thats pushing it, it won't be worth anything as a parts car.

I've owned a salvaged title mustang and although it looked perfect, it always had problems. I wouldn't ever buy a salvaged title vehicle. We just gave an Expedition to my friend that was salvaged, he said he wanted it becus his uncle would fix it for free, well it got fixed but he still has problems here and there. I would sell you my 03 GT Premium with 90k miles and clean shape for $8k, and its not salvaged.
