Your best bang for the buck is a 4V 4.6 Lincoln MKVIII engine from ebay or a junk yard. It is the same engine as the 98 Cobra but ALOT cheaper because people have no idea how small the difference is, small differences like cam lift, and the intake manifold is different. People do this swap and just put a Cobra intake on the mark motors. ANY 4.6 T5 will hook up to it unless u want auto which im sure you can find with the engine. IVe seen these engines go for 600-800 bucks. Labor to drop the engine in would be around 1500ish dependong on where you live. You can have your current ecu tuned or grab a mark ecu. You will need to ditch your current drive shaft though and grab a new X/H pipe and cat back. Your rear end will be fine till you blow it. GL hope this gives you some insight to get started.

You need motor mounts and a k frame from a 96-98 4.6l, the 3.8 kframe is the same as the 5.0

3.8's have a T5 NOT a T45 which is what you need...

no need to grab a new shaft just swap out the yokes for a 31 spline instead of the 28.

k member needs changed

get an 8.8 rear ditch the 7.5

96-98 ECU and harness

96-98 Cobra intake

a few other thing im sure
