What is the engine difference?
I need a new long block for a 96 GT. Can I use a long block from 2000 or newer 4.6 SOHC mustang, grand marquis, crown victoria, or any ford vehile? Is there certain motor changes that move the motor mounts trans mounts that prevent it from bolting in?

It would actually benifit you to use a long block (heads included) from anything after 99, as they have better heads/cams and you would pick up a few hp. These swaps are refered to as P.I swaps or Power Improvement swaps. Use the search bar for some info on P.I swaps.

I did a head swap a few years ago and my motor has locked up. I need a new one so I am searching for all that will fit into my mustang. I want a long block, but all salvage yards keep saying nah it wont work. I am confused I thought they would all fit.

They are all just trying to make money. An 8 bolt flywheel and 6 bolt flywheel is the only difference then? Does the Salvage Yards in tulsa only what to make money with no honesty. I have used three engine Shops here and got crap products or screwed. No solid honest businesss here

I thought even the PI motors were 6 bolt? Just the 4 valves being the 8 bolts.
anyway, It WILL work, there are countless people on this site that have done the swap, it's pretty simple (as far as swaps go), and will net you a pretty good increase in power, since you need to replace the parts its almost dumb for you not to do it. Sorry for all the people you gotta deal with. I know what you mean, everyone's out for a buck these days, honesty is scarse.
