2002 lincoln continental 4v
I found a local guy selling a Lincoln Continental complete engine. He says its a 4.6l 4v. From what I have been able to figure out so far looks like he is correct. Wiring harness is missing and he claims low compression on #8 cylinder and he swapped motors rather than fixing this one. I am thinking of getting it and swapping the heads over to a current 2v motor, or maybe tearing it down and rebuilding so I will have a fresh 4v for a GT. What do you guys think? What is the possibility that the head is the reason for low compression? Its a pretty cheap price and I gotta believe the heads alone are worth what he is asking for the complete engine. Does anyone know which block this would be? Thanks for any help. 4v engine would be awesome.
I missed that this is a transverse mounted engine. Oops. That may rule out using the block for a rebuild into a GT, I will have to research that some more. But the heads should still work from what I can figure out. Has anybody done a swap with these heads? Will water pump, altenator, and other brackets still work?
Ok, so I understand the block won't work and typically its not worth converting a 2v to 4v. But with this being a complete motor, if I were to get a short block maybe from MMR or someplace like that, would all the stuff change over. Since it would be a short block and everything has to be bolted on it anyway I could just put all the 4v stuff on it and use these heads. Does anyone if waterpump, alt, tensioner all work or all not work for sure.
