Default Cigarette lighter help.

So I recently tried using my cigarette lighter and realized it didn't work. The power point at the shifter is dead, but the power point in my console is working.

Would a fuse be blown and if so, wouldn't the other power point be dead?

I pulled the panel and saw that there is wiring running to the plug, however it is a three prong plug and I only have two wires in the harness.

I do know that they originally had a plug that says 12V, but does that mean it can be used as a 12V source or that it is originally dead from the factory?

Can someone help me figure out what's going on? Thanks and much appreciated.

Should only need 2 wires, hot and ground.
They could be fused separately... did you check the wires for power while you had them out?

it was a blown fuse. shoulda checked it first.

i was following mysterious wires to switches and got sidetracked with the cigarette lighter. completely forgot to check the fuses

thanks for clearing up the issue i was having. i guess i got confused because i saw three prongs and two wires.

a cig lighter was stuck in there when it wasnt supposed to be, so thats what probably blew it in the first place.

Yeah the fuses are different for the one in the console and the one behind the shifter. Just for future reference. At least thats how it is in my 04 gt.
