cutouts?
what are they? Ive heard a buddy of mines car who has cutouts and its really "gurgley" and its pops alot when hes lets off the throttle at high rpms. Is that because of the cutouts? Ive also heard about "electronic cutouts" -are they any different from regular cutouts?

RE: cutouts?
Cutouts are modified pipes in the exhaust that divert gases either through the mufflers or straight out without mufflers. Electronic cutouts are controlled electronically via a switch and valves, that's all.
Here is an example of a mechanical cutout:

RE: cutouts?
If you're running big hp, it may help, as it eliminate any back pressure in the exhaust. IMO, it is just loud on most cars and unnecessary. I've known several guys with cutouts and none of them needed them. It just made them 'feel' faster. There are many folks here who believe the louder is better. (That will last until they hit their 30s and start losing their hearing.)
Unless you're building serious, at-the-track-every-weekend horsepower, you shouldn't need them.

RE: cutouts?
Thanks!
one last question: any idea on electronic cutouts pricing? the switch would be in the cabin (by the wheel or on the dash) so I could run muffled or un muffled anytime I want right?
