Default Cooling system help please

so i flushed the system by removing the thermostar and lower rad hose only. ran an additive and then flushed it the same way again. hooked it all back up and i can only get 1 1/2 jugs of straight antifreeze in my system? i let it run...it burped a bit and i put more antifreeze in...i drove it around a bit and it didnt overheat or anything but the level stayed where it was in the overflow.

also my tester is reading -10 degrees freeze protection...would this mean i need more water or more antifreeze? and is the measurement supposed to be taken when its warm or cold or it doesnt matter? thanks alot

First of all, why did you fill with 100% anti-freeze? Check owners manual because Im pretty sure a 50/50 mix is all thats called for. If thats true then U need to drain some and add water to get the correct mixture. I know on my 03 GT the coolant overflow has two lines on the side, one for cold and another hot. Look close, its hard to see sometimes. Also the owners manual will give you all the liquid capacities. If your car is in fact a Bullitt then the manual should be your friend. If you dont have it then check it out online, just search for the Tech specs on your car.

My handy-dandy book says 14.1 qts of 50/50, which would be a hair over 3 1/2 gallons. You didn't drain it the recommended way... how much fluid did you get out?

My book has been wrong about other things before and in this case didn't differentiate between years or sub-models, only between V6 and V8... but it was still an indication that if you only got about 6 qts out then you were no where near getting all of the old fluid out.

pure water will damage it just as bad too, thats how i cracked my thermostat housing a year ago. The hot water is like sand paper on the plastic, and pure anti freeze is corrosive to the metal, or something. my line is corrupted and always a nasty brown orange, even after flushing it with Peak. But that also may be from where i used leak stop.

50/50 even in summer time.
