shut off problem
Hey ya'll i have a 00 GT convertible. the thing is yesterday i was coming to a stop having one foot on the clutch and one on the brake, car was in 2nd gear. So as soon as i come to like 5 or ten miles and hour the car shuts off. it happened 5 times yeasterday and i did happend 2 month ago for a day or two. I think i put ****ty taxaco gas in it cause i felt a drainage of power. Anyways if you have any suggestions let me know please

Can you keep the engine running with the gas pedal? If so,the Intake Air Control valve (IAC) could be the culprit. You can clean these by removing the 3/4 inch hose going into the throttle body and spraying fuel injector cleaner into the opening.Or you can remove the IAC and let it soak overnite in the same stuff. They are not very expensive to replace outright.
my car does the same thing... every once in awhile my car will shut off when im coming to a stop... each time my friends think i stall it but i have the clutch all the way in and my foot on the brake. this is weird....
sweet, think i will give the cleaning idea a try.. i didnt even see that post up there. i didnt really know what was going on.. i just thought i was slowing down the motor to fast or something and it just died... but now i know that wasnt it.
Yeah, it is a sticky. The thing is though if you are pressing on the gas, it's not the IAC (IDLE air control valve). The IAC wouldn't have anything to do with it. Alot of people have had their cars fixed this way, but alot of people (me) are still working on this.. Mine will only die when I am on the gas. It only happens a couple times a month. I have heard it may be a problem if you have an after-market chip, but i know people it happens to that are stock. Seems almost electrical with mine, not sure though. ?!!?!
