Default Idle/Maf problem?

So today I washed my car and noticed that after I was done the idle was pretty rough for some reason. Every few seconds I could hear a little pop in the exhaust. When I went to drive down the road under acceleration I could feel a little studder every few seconds. After about 30 min of driving it went away and seemed fine. Not sure if it was a miss fire in one of the cylinders? Im thinking I might need to change the plugs soon. After getting home I decided to clean the Maf and throttle body to see if it might help. Well after pulling the top part of the Maf off I noticed that someone had stripped one of the screws and put lock tight all over the thing to put it back together.

Do I need to buy a new Maf? And does anybody know what the idle problem might have been?

Could be an o2 sensor, MAF, IAC valve, a number of things, as long as u can get that MAF to seal properly u could use it.

Did you spray the engine down with a hose? If so you need to change all 8 COPs and spark plugs and never do something that senseless again.

Most MAF's are not designed to have their screws loosened which is why a lot of them have safety torx screws on them. You likely stripped them yourself when you loosened them. That red stuff is high temp RTV and your only hope at this point is to completely clean that red RTV off, reapply more....install the MAF + red loctite on screws and hope to hell that it seals. If it doesn't.....chalk it up to stupid tax and buy a new one.

Ive sprayed water all over my COPS cleaning the engine on my 2002 f150, 4.6. Done it over 100 times, let them try out and the COPS are fine.
