Default Flowmaster Mufflers Or Flowmaster catback?

For my birthday i am getting either flowmaster orginal 40 or super 44mufflers or the flowmaster american thunder catback which comes with super 40s already welded in for my 2002 mustang GT. how much would installation be on the mufflers? would it be better to just dish out a little of my own cash and get the catback? If not which muffler has a deeper, throatier sound to it.....40s or 44s? thanks guys.

on our cars I am not sure how much difference a cat-back makes. the mid pipe is the real key component pre mufflers.

I have just mufflers and the idle is soft but the car gets loud when i get on the gas. almost to loud on the interstate.

Thumbs up

I would go with the flowmaster outlaw axleback. Just youtube and check it out. You'll see what I mean. No sweeter sound.

from what I gather the 44's are a bit more aggressive and throatier than the 40's... that said I've had 40's welded on the stock pipes for close to 13yrs now on my '99 (got them installed a week after purchase) and they still sound fantastic. The 40's are the "original" flowmaster sound... though I have to admit, I've been eyeing a change to 44's... either way you'll be happy I'm sure!

In my opinion there are way better sounding mufflers out there than Flowmasters, in fact I'm sick of my flowmasters (read: Dronemasters).

For a bit more money you can get a muffler that sounds a whole lot better and drones a whole lot less.

However I have 40 series and people love the way it sounds.

Axlebacks aren't for our cars. On sn95s (94-04) the mufflers are before the axle.

I personally like flowmasters, if I was to move to a muffler from a resonator I would go with 40s series
