Ok well i got lucky my best friends dad has a 98 cobra that pushs over 500hp to the wheels and about 600hp from the motor he is going to give me the engine from that car because he is going to put a 5.4L V8 in from a lighting what i want to know is what do i have to do to my almost completely stock 97 gt to prepare for this monster engine i have a stock 98 cobra trans a stage 1 race clutch a stock flywheel a stock driveshaft stock rear end and differential and gears. i also want to know what else he will have to do for the swap if he is going to have to swap transmissions and stuff like that please let me know thanks

 

Better motor mounts for one, is it coming with fuel lines or do you have all of that and what about sensors?

Wiring harness and ECU would be a start. Also make sure you fuel system is up to the challenge of feeding it.

 

What motor and what mods does it have that its pushing that power.

 

All I can think of is the fuel systems.

 

its the stock 4.6 4v with a procharger and everything upgraded to support the power and its tuned

 

now can he use the transmission thats bolted to the 4.6 4v on the 5.4 or does he have to get a different one?

 

for that kind of power, bigger fuel system (ie, injectors, pump), exhaust (need headers and mid pipe for a cobra. youre cat back will bolt up), maybe a stronger clutch, and a good tune. This is basics you will need assuming the engine is oil pan to intake + charger.

 

What procharger/fuel pump/ injectors on that car, how much boost?
