First GT, getting a few little mods already.

I am going to lower it at some point in the future. I am also going to pick up a set of 17x10.5 rears and have both options. It will be a while before I do anything else to it though; I now have to get back on my 81 F150 project and then my 77 Trans Am after that. This Mustang keeps me sane while my other projects are being worked on.

I'll be digging up this old thread from time to time just to update what I'm doing to my car. I noticed it was darting around from bumpsteer/tramlining a little but there was nothing happening at the steering wheel. The wheel itself has more play in it than I would like. I was also getting a high pitched squeal from the accessory drive over 1500rpm. I jacked the front end up and was able to wiggle both wheels back and forth a bit. I also then noticed the front right hub was clicking and making low screaching noises. Next I took the belt off and both idler pulleys and the tensioner pulley were making noise. The loudest noise was from the inner idler pulley. I jumped on rockauto, got new timken hubs/hub nuts, moog inner/outer tie rods a new motorcraft tensioner and both idler pulleys. I also got a fuel filter for good measure. I didn't have to replace all that but the car has 100k miles on it so I might as well just take a day and get it back up to par. It'll need more maintenance stuff but that will be another day. I need to change the tranny fluid/filter in my wife's Mustang this week as well. I'm hopefully doing all of this on Tuesday.

I bought an '04 GT with 37,000K on it for $12,300 in West Chester, Pa. I found a few similar cars with comparable price tags in my area as well. Im not sure about the used mustang market trends in FL, but I'm sure with some navigating through the various used car websites you could find a good deal.

Just ordered a set of Bullitt springs off of ebay. I was wanting to lower it but started thinking that anything over an inch might be to much with all the tall curbs and steep drives/massive dips to side roads around here. I love the look of the really low mustangs but it would just be impractical for me. I had looked into the c springs but there were conflicting opinions about ride quality and they drop the front a little more than I wanted. Anyhoo, the 3/4" drop of the bullitts plus the 600lb (50 less than the c springs) rate on the fronts looks like it is right where I want to be. If I decide to go lower I'll just remove the isolators or cut the coils a bit. I'll post pics after I install them. I still need to get the air conditioner fixed....

Thanks. I don't have much money but I do have a little to play with. No car payments definitely helps. My wife and I try to keep our debt and payments to a minimum.....except for the freaking student loans. haha

I heard that. If I would quit playing musical cars I wouldn't have a car payment either. Lol This is my fourth mustang but first 1 I have modded. Hoping to supercharge it down the road, but the new 5.0s are calling me ?
