Default Need help ticking after engine rebuild

I had rebuilt my engine 4.6 sohc 2v engine i have a cobra block i had replaced all the gasketes used same oil pump and used my old pistons and after i had put the engine in my engine ticks and my clutch doesnt engage the ticking sound like from the drivers valve cover but it gets faster when you give it gas and i cant figure out what it is and my engine started to over heat and everything worked before... i had my heads rebuilt at the machine shop valve job ect.. and i have a 03 cobra block...

Ill vote for either exhaust leak, or one of your plugs is pushing out

ive ruled out exhaust leak because its definatly not that sound but what do you mean spark plug being pushed out?

The 4.6L heads are known for spitting out spark plugs if they are torqued improperly. It's worth a check, but my money is on a lash adjuster.

well i check the lash adjusters they all are good and pumped up none are bad and what would it exactly sound like if the spark plug is getting shot out

It's not really a knock so much as air escaping. Here is a video. If not the lash adjuster, what about the timing chain tensioner?

I reused all the timing components gears and tensioners ect...and my chain didnt have timing marks si we just put on and when we timed we turned engine over with breaker bar to make sure valves didnt hit me and my dad did it im 18 and know a pretty good amount but it was really had to time is there anything I could have done wrong to make tapping noise?

Its the lifter, you have to tightened it or replace it.
