Default Traction Control on?

Is traction control on,when the OFF is not lit?
And when the OFF is lit, the traction control is off?

When I push traction control button and it lights up then it is off. When the light is off then it is active.

The light on my '04 GT's traction control button doesn't work --- hasn't since the day I bought it (almost 3 months ago). But, I remembered test driving a few of these cars years ago --- after you start the engine you press the traction control button to disable the traction control (and the little light in the button should come on). I've just made it a habit to press the traction control button every time I start the car and begin forward movement!
