Mild Cam for FI?
Looking into installing cams in my car. A HP increase would be nice but a better exhaust note is my goal. Any recommendations that don't involve changing valve springs or notching pistons?
I believe both the Modular Head Shop (MHS) and Cushman Motor Sports (CMS) Stage 1 blower cams are designed to work with the stock springs but make sure to have the cams degreed to avoid any interference problems.
Search on youtube, you'll hit videos for both these cams, they both sound good. The Stage 1's definitely sound healthier than a stock cam but not as much choppy lope as the higher stages.
But you can have a tuner drop the idle speed down a little if you want more noticeable lope.
I'm looking very seriously at both these cams as apparently they will pass smog and I need that here in Kalifornia.
I'm impressed by both the guys behind these cams (Nick at MHS, Jim at CMS), they both are very strong on mod motors. You can still make big HP on these Stage 1 cams.
