Default tire sizes

I am getting rims next week and I need new tires to go on the rims. I have not decided between 17" and 18" rims. I want to go with 18's, but those size tires are hard to find. I want to know what size tires I should run on 17X9's on the front and 17X10.5's on the back or if I go with 18's then I need to know tire sizes for 18X9's on the front and 18X10's on the back. I spoke to a guy at mustangtuning and he told me that for 17's I needed somewhere between 295/35/17 and 315/35/17 to look good on the back. This is a really hard tire to find for a street driven car. For 18's it gets even worse because the aspect ratio gets even lower so those tires are harder to find. What tire sizes are people going with and what brand are the best to consider? Thanks in advance.

i would only get 18"s if you want 14" front disc rotors, if not then just get 17" with 315/35/17 Nittos D/R out back and 255/40/17 up front.

because of prices, I think I am going to have to go with 17X9's all the way around instead of deep dishing the rear. Will 275/40/17's fit on both the front and the rear or are 265's the biggest you should go?

I got 17 x 275's on the front and 17 x 315's on the back. I will say though that the 9" wheels on the front handle better, but it seems as if the wheel sticks out of the wheel well a little more than I like. If I had to do it again I would probobly stick with 8" on the front. Here's a pic.

2 questions.

1. why do you have that piece of V6 door trim on your GT?

2. do you have any pics of your car straight on because i'm looking to get new wheels and now i'm concerned about how much they'll stick out of the wheel well.

Why would you go to 17X8's on the front instead of going with 255's or 265's? I don't even know where you can get 8's instead of 9's. All I have ever seen are 9's. I want to get a good size tire, but I don't want it sticking out of the wheel well too far. I am also going to have to wait to get drag radials for the back and just get the same size tires on all 4 spaces. That being said I guess 265's might be the way to go according to your post? Any further comments?

Were you going to get chrome or the black chrome from AFS wheels? I posted pics of the black chrome wheels in your other thread.

I think I have decided to go with the regular chrome finish. The black is nice, but I am more of a shiny chrome kinda person.

Ok first that trim came on the car from the factory. I may take it of but havn't decided yet, and this car is not done yet. 2nd the tire does not stick out past the wheel well on the top but as the fender comes in it does seem as if it does a little. These are AFS wheels 9" on the front with 275's (the tire sits flush with the outside edge of the wheel so a smaller tire would not change this) and 10.5 on the back with 315's and you can get 8" wheels from AFS but I havn't seen them on Ebay.
I just got some lowering springs and I think that it will bring the look of the wheel in some.

Those black wheels look good on that car. Is that car lowered?
