Default Headlight dimmer switch not working

I purchased my 2004 GT Convertible TODAY. Everything is great except the headlight dimmer switch that is activated by the turn signal to go from dims to bright. It does change but as soon as I release the switch they go back to dims. How do I replace this switch. Be as complete as possible as I am not a mechanical genius. God please let it be simple and easy! Thanks for your time.

Are you pulling it toward you or flipping the switch forward (away from you)?

You mentioned "as soon as I release it", makes me think you're pulling it toward you, which is the 'flash to pass' feature. If you flip it forward, that is the actual high beam position and the switch should stay there on it's own.

Thank you for the reply. It was simple and easy after all. I am 73 and just had a brain fart, not many brain cells left. I am used to GM cars and my Wife's Mitsubishi Eclipse.
Thank you for your patience, I may post other stupid things in the future. I traded a 1992 Corvette on the Mustang. Mustang is black on black with black top convertible GT premier It had 40yh anniversary package Mach audio system, automatic, SVT wheels, Magna Flow exhaust, all power options, leather seats 4.6 V8 K&N cold air system and 60K miles. Really nice car and it looks new inside and out, so far I love it. The Corvette had become a check engine light junky and I spent about as much time under the dash, under the hood and under the car as I did driving it plus it was a choir for my old arthritic body to get in and out of it. Thanks again.
