Default A/C Port locations

So I been reading about recharging my A/C system. I keep getting different answers. specifically my car is a 97 GT.

the port which is on the passanger side closest to the camber/caster plate is the "low port" but when i connect the gauge it reads over 100 psi. Now my A/C works and actual part on the serpentine belt spins. i don't suspect anything wrong with my a/c.

can someone verify where exactly im suppose to find the low port. pictures would be appreciated because the ones online are not helping. again i have a 97 4.6L

the high and low port have 2 different size fittings, if you attached a low side gauge to that port, its the low side port.

can you explain why the low side would have over 100psi if its supposed to be empty due to the lack of refrigerant? im lost over here and i dont' want to front the money for a a/c technician.

well, if it has 100 psi in it, then its either not low on refrigerant, or your underhood ambiant temp is very hot and that is causing the pressure to go high in the system. the ting with refrigeration systems is if you dont know how they operate and how to diagnose, you wont ever get it figured out without taking it to a tech. you could have electrical issues, cooling fan issues, blend door issues, etc.

If your a/c works and you suspect nothing wrong (as mentioned in your first post), then why are you trying to add refrigerant?

Thanks for the info. I did some research and found answers on idqusa.Com

My psi was way up there but it explains that it's due to extremely low refridgerant. I was skeptical at first but decided to take the risk now I have cold air coming through the vents.

Thanks for the help btw, it was c9nnected to the low port like you mentioned.

What I meant by that was that mechanically and electrically every component works. The only issue was there was no cold air coming out of the vents. I was finally able to add refridgerant though.
