I don't see me going as quick. Hahha. That's impressive. I notice the hood is still on. I may pull mine off to make it a little easier to get at everything.

I think I have to pull my long tubes off also. However I may try to leave the transmission attached. I'm hoping that is easier.

I left the hood on because i did it in the driveway and wanted to be able to close it up. When putting the motor back in i had my son hold the hood open to the max and once i got it over the core support and lowered i used the regular hood rod to hold it open.

If i were in the garage i would have taken it off, good luck and keep us posted

With my canton oil pan and mac longtubes the driver header needs to come off to pull motor out the top even with a tubular k frame. (4v)

After following Gary's 5.4 swap, that 4 valve is a tight fit, i'm assuming you have to take the header off from the bottom.

A 2 valve is way easier

Its been a few months. I am excited to say, the motor is finally on the way. It's in Houston and according to the tracking number I should have it today.
I ordered the long block from MMR in Dec. They had a bit of a hang up getting the stage 2 cam I wanted. So it delayed the build some.

I have everything close to ready to go for the swap. I decided I'm not going to just pull it out and replace as quick as I can. I'm going to pull the old motor, then "detail" my engine bay. Get it as clean as I can, look for and replace as much worn parts as I can while I have it torn down. I am going to change the radiator, fan and power steering pump for sure. As well as all new coolant hoses. I plan on putting a drop cloth under the car and spraying a crap load of degreaser.
I will post pics.
