Churning/tapping noise
Ive got a 96 GT, since ive bought it ive turned it into a full bolt on car. Only problem is its got this churning sound. Only hear it at idle, if i rev it the noise will go away until it comes back down to idle. Dosent speed up with the RPM's, no noise on the interstate or at WOT, been doing it since i got the car, hasnt gotten worse. I tried lucas oil treatment with no luck. I keep the car in a garage and only really hear it when its warmed up like pulling in after work. Oil psi shows good too. Like i said it hasnt gotten worse and ive taken it to the 1/8 mile about 4 times since i bought it shifting at 4-5000 rpm and it still sounds the same. Any ideas?
Ive tried man. Its so quiet and soft my crappy phone wont pick it up. But its defiantly not a normal engine noise. Think of breaking toothpicks. But like at a consistent pace. One right after the other.
Buy an auto stethoscope from harbor freight or something and try to pin point where you hear it most. The. Post it again. The description you gave is almost useless.
Okay. I aplologize, i dont know how else to describe it. I know it dosent come from up top like a lifter of anything. Its more towards the rear of the engine towards the bottom. Say around the door seem. Its quiet and soft sounding but noticable. Ill try again
