Default Tuning Question

I just got a tuner, after talking to some tuning folks, MPT, Tuning By James and another, no one will write a tune for me because i swap my motor.

I have a 1998 GT SOHC and swapped the motor out of a 2005 Lincoln, 2V SOHC the only difference in the motors are the P.I. Heads/cams which doesn't require a tune.

I do have a PP 75mm TB & Plenum and 21 lb/hr injectors "Pink"

So my question is could i use a tune for a 98 Stock 4.6L, or with the mods i listed, i'm assuming the only thing they are really doing with an email tune is advancing ignition timing.

Any help would be appreciated

I would just test your compression ratio and tell them nothing more than it's a 4.6 sohc PI heads with ..... compression ratio.

You need to find another tuner then. Writing a tune for your engine would be simple and take 5 min. A pre loaded tune is just copy and pasting the MBT spark to borderline spark and pulling fuel at WOT since stock is 12:1.

I'm gonna suggest dyno tune. It's really the only way to really get full potential

I did some research and found two companies that will write email tunes, one is VMP Tuning and the other is Unleashed Tuning Both are competitive in cost.

MPT Said nothing older than 99 and considered my motor swap a major modification, same with Tuning By James.

I looked at the dyno tune in my area it starts at around $500.00, I don't really have much in the way of bolt on's 75mm TB & Plenum, Ford Racing lower intake, 21 lb/hr injectors, BBK Shorty's with 2 1/2" magnaflow pipes and Mufflers, 3:73 Gears.

Email tune $150.00 - $200.00, good enough for me.

What impressed you the most? Low end, Mid range or High end power?

Good deal my man. Should be a solid high 13 sec car. With a tire maybe mid 13s!
