manifold replacement
Anyone ever replaced the intake manifold on their 99 and up GT? Any quirks? Can somsone post the steps. Ive done it on SB Chevys(67) and so forth but nothing late model. Im referring to the lower intake manifold, not the upper, thanks!

RE: manifold replacement
I did it on my 97, shouldnt be too much of a difference. the hardest part of the whole thing really is just remembering where all of the electric and vaccum connections go. I swapped mine in a couple of hours using a haynes manual. im not sure if i can cover everything on this, but i'll try.
1. remove front sway bar
2. relieve fuel system pressure
3. drain your cooling system and remove the drivebelt
4. disconnect the radiator and cooling hoses, and remove the thermostat housing and thermostat
5. remove your air intake
6. remove your vaccum lines, but remember where they go and label them if you have to
7. the pcv hose and all other hoses you see, making note of where they go
8. disconnect your accelerator and cruise control linkage
9. pull your spark plug wires out of the way
10. disconnect the connections to the alternator, and remove it
11. remove the alternator bracket from the intake manifold
12. disconnect all electrical connections (coolant temp, tps, egr, fuel injectors, etc.)
13. disconnect the fuel supply, you will need special tools for this.. i think they are called line lock couplers or something
14. remove the upper intake elbow (makes installation much easier if you do this because of the EGR tube on the rear of it)
15. loosen the intake manifold bolts about 1/4 turn each at a time, until you can turn them by hand
16. lift slightly and slide the intake manifold towards the front until it clears the egr tube and lift it off
17. remove the gaskets and clean the mounting surface
the installation is pretty much the reverse of this. depending on the intake manifold you get, it may or may not have the gaskets built into it. if it does like mine, it will seal up nice, but i put some RTV on it just to be sure.
hope that covers most of it..if i missed something, someone please add it.
