Default engine problems

hey i got a situation here. i got some light colored smoke comin out the pipes. the car is burnin oil. alot of it. i have a procharger on the motor and its a stock motor. how do you know if the rings are bad or the seals?and would a stronger rotating assembly be a good idea/wich one is good for street? thanks

how much boost are you running or planning on running? Sounds like the piston rings are going bad from too much pressure or heavy spanking with the charger. If you have to replace the rings then you may as well get forged internals. Will handle boost much better. and allow you make your tune more aggressive.

Do you have a power decrease? Before you jump on the worst case scenario, why don't you do a compression test on the engine. If your rings are worn this will surely show itself in a compression test.
You may just need a valve seal job. I have heard a lot about the 4.6 V8s either go for indefinite time without the valve seals goin or they go really quick.


Compression test and see what that yields. It just may need a set of valve seals. As far as I know those when they go that's when you chug oil.
