Angry 97 GT T45 problem

Was driving home from work and went to shift into 5th and it wouldn't go. So drove the rest of the way home in 4th. Got home and then went to back into my parking spot and wouldn't go into reverse at all. I could see the back up lights come on, but wouldn't click in. I've read on the interwebs that usually it's the fork that gets bent or the pads go out. So I guess my question would be do I need to replace the trans, have it rebuilt or what? .

A bent shift fork is unlikely , however not out of the question. Most Likely the little nylon shift fork pads that ride in the slider have worn out or broken off. When mine did that only one of them was gone and the other was worn on one side, it would go into 5th but would kick out time after time and was really hard to get into reverse. Luckilly on the T-45 you can remove the tail piece and get to the 5th/reverse fork with out having to dismantle alot of the trans. IF the fork inserts are bad you should be able to replace them pretty easy. https://www.allstategear.com/T45-Shi...p/insk-t45.htm

Swap it out for TKO600. LMR would have everything you need.

Thx for the response, I'm not too familiar with transmissions in general, other that just swapping them out. But your answer seems legit.
